The Godfather continued.....and no its still not the movie...

Week 3 and I'm still reading Mario Puzzo's, The Godfather. Its not really going as smooth as i like. Its not that anythings wrong with the book--its still a masterpiece. Its just that I haven't had as much time of focus to devote to the book as necessary. Its partially on me, its not like in the summer where I would have gone out of my way to read it. Now i just read when I can, as much as possible. Thats one thing I really love about books and reading. The stories don't go anywhere. No matter how scarcely you read a certain book, or how long the break between pages is, the story will always remain the same. If you leave a book as Sonny Corleone is being shot, you can return two weeks later and Sonny will still be getting shot. I know this post might not go as in depth as the previous post about The Godfather. Sorry about that, I guess i just didn't know how to go into detail about the scare 120 or so pages i read over the previous week.

The Godfather...No, not the movie...

One my favorite books of all time would of course be The Godfather by Mario Puzzo. I think pretty much everyone is somewhat familiar with it... I mean, it sort of set the stereotype of Italian Americans. Everyones heard of famous scenes from movie, such as the horse heads, drive-by's, and the brutal beat-downs. But reading it is a whole different story, literally i guess. After i saw the movie, me and my friends got obsessed. We embraced our heritage, bought tuxedos and bee-bee guns, and watched the movie about a hundred more times. I think i was the only one curious enough to go out an purchase and read the book. As i read it, i found myself mesmerized. I was furious! How could the movie have left this much out?!? Imagine what it could have been like if details were shared, stories told--and not to mention, included several of the main characters from the book?!? Despite my concerns with the movie, i loved the book. i was even more deeply in love with the story. It had it all, crime, mystery, sex, guns, maucho-ness, gangsters...everything a 10 year old kid would fall for. I've read it twice since then, and it never stops entertaining me. Its a mature book; in theme, content, and reading level... But i defiantly recommend it to anyone!

First entry... i think?

Yeah so this is my first "blog." It feels kind of weird saying that. I guess I'm a pretty good reader. And i suppose by that i mean i read a lot. Its not something i have to force myself to do or try . Its just something that naturally to me. I like it. This summer i read a bunch of books. I finished War and Peace, re-read the Harry Potter series, Angels and Demons, The Magicians Tree, The Things They Carried, Twisted, The Masses Arise, 1984, and probably a couple other little ones. Ill get into specifics later i suppose. Thanks for reading?
